Security advice
Very often it is announced that valid access data to masses have been published on the Internet. This is very worrying because the service providers here do not secure their websites and databases at all or only very sloppily. However, if you as an end user follow a few small security tips, you can confidently face such scare reports.
Never use the same password twice!
Always use cryptic and long passwords!
Use the maximum length for a password each time.
Passwords should be at least 15-25 characters long.
Change passwords regularly, e.g. eMail passwords at least twice a year, WLan passwords e.g. once a month.
Do not store passwords on sticky notes on the monitor, but in a password manager.
If possible and the service supports it, switch on two-factor authentication.
If you want to know how good or bad your password is, have it checked, e.g. with Password Meter or Kaspersky Password Check.
Regularly check your access to the service have i been pwned? to see if you have been hacked.
To avoid having to remember all the cryptic passwords, I recommend using a password manager. This programme is an encrypted database where you store all your passwords.
